wanda_at_assembly_medSisters of Mercy are an international community of women religious vowed to serve people who suffer from poverty, sickness and lack of education with a special concern for women and children. The Institute of the Sisters of Mercy includes six geographic communities. The Sisters of the South Central Community spans 18 states, Guam and Jamaica.

    Other than having an aunt who was a nun and admiring the habit worn by the local Marianites, Sister of Mercy Mary Victor Allain never gave much thought to convent life as a child growing up along the bayou in Plaquemine, Louisiana.
